Ramblers defeat Cardinals by 3-1 in a MIVA match – Volleyball news
The Ball State men’s volleyball team played a match on Tuesday, March 20 with their counter parts from Loyola-Chicago. The competition between the two sides was part of the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association matches that are currently being
staged. The two teams met each other in Chicago with the venue of the competition being the Gentile Arena.
The clash between the two sides went on for four sets at the end of which the Ramblers were able to end up on the winning side. The score board showed the following final set scores: 25-15, 21-25, 25-23 and 25-17.
The recent win has enabled the Ramblers to show an overall season statistics of 13 wins which were incurred at the cost of suffering a total of 10 losses. On the other hand, the MIVA record of the Ramblers record four wins which were secured at the cost
of incurring three defeats. As compared to the statistics of the Ramblers, the overall season wins of the Cardinals show a total of 12 wins which have been obtained by suffering eight defeats. On the other hand, the MIVA record of the Cardinals show four wins
at the high cost of suffering five losses.
The first set of the match saw both the teams come out strong against each other as neither was letting the other take dominance. The match reached an early tie in the opening set at 3-3. However, the Ramblers were able to propel themselves forward on an
8-2 run that gave the home team a leading position in the set. After that point, it was only a matter of time before the Ramblers were able to bag the frame at 25-15.
The second set started much the same way as the previous one with the two teams reaching a tie at 4-4. The game proceeded in a fair manner as another tie was reached at 12-12. However, the Cardinals succeeded in grabbing the second frame of the game at 25-21.
The second set was the only one on which the Cardinals could get their hands on as the third and the fourth one were secured by the Ramblers at the 25-23 and 25-17 respectively.
