Ramnaresh Sarwan, the West Indian middle-order batsman, is not disappointed after his side’s defeat to India in the first ODI at home and hopes that they will stage a strong comeback in the 2nd match that is due on Wednesday, June 8 at Queen’s
Park Oval.
The visitors won the first game by 4 wickets yesterday, at the same venue where they claimed the only T20 of the series on June 4.
Sarwan was the highest scorer for the Windies yesterday with 56 runs. He forged a partnership of 82 with Marlon Samules, who scored 55.
The other batsmen did not thrive and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 could post a target of 215 that India achieved comfortably in 44.5 overs, losing just 6 wickets.
In his post-match comments, Sarwan said, “I'm still not my fluent self, but I will go back to the nets tomorrow. I have a few things I have to work on and be ready for the match on Wednesday. From here on I will be looking to improve even more and do better
for the team.”
The batsman also confessed that they had lost the match due to the low total. He said that he was vying for a http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Richard-Griffith-c41953 score along with Marlon but they could not sustain their momentum.
However, Sarwan added, “As players we have been trying to help each other and look to improve and win more matches. The spirit in the team is still high.”
During their ongoing tour of the island, the Men in Blue are set to play four more ODIs against the Caribbean side.
Despite the fact that they are deprived of their senior players, the Indian have performed well so far.
In order to overcome the deficiencies of the last game, Sarwan is attending a packed practice session at the Oval today.
The 30-year-old right-handed batsman has excellent batting averages in all three formats of the game. Since 2000, he has played 85 Tests, 169 ODIs and 18 T20Is.
Sarwan also played an instrumental role in leading his side to the quarter-finals of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011.
