Ramon Sessions helps the Cleveland Cavaliers capture a rare road victory over the Sacramento Kings 97-93 on Wednesday night at Power Balance Pavilion, Sacramento. Sessions posted 20 points with five rebounds and six assists in
a much awaited road win for the Cavaliers.
Sessions expressed his jubilation winning on the road,
“Our (road) losing streak is gone, it's out the window, A this point, we just want to get as many wins as we can in the final 16 games”.
The 2010-2011 NBA season started with three road wins for the Cavaliers but they were unable to continue this winning combination and started falling behind. The only other road game they won since November was against the New
York Knicks on March 4th. With this welcome win they also snapped up a four game losing streak.
The two evenly ranked teams played similarly on the court as both have nothing to lose. The Cavaliers (13-53) are at bottom in the Eastern Conference and the Kings are also (16-50) standing much alike in the Western Conference.
Kings’ Beno Urdih scored the opening two points of the game as the Kings showed the early aggression leading the first quarter 28-18.
Udrih scored 14 points in the game while his teammate Marcus Thornton gathered a game high 23 points. Dalembert added 16 points with 10 rebounds while Francisco Garcia scored 14 points for Sacramento.
The Cavaliers came back in the second quarter as Daniel Gibson scored back to back eight points and reduced the deficit to just four points when the scored reached at 28-32.
The Kings went into the third quarter with a six points cushion in their favor at 45-51. Cleveland’s J.J. Hickson, Luke Harangody and Samardo Samuels combined to score a flurry of points which proved vital for the Cavaliers as
they closed the deficit to just one point at the end of third quarter, 73-74.
J.J. Hickson scored 17 points while Luke Harangody gathered 15 points overall in the match and Samardo Samuels added 13 points for the Cavaliers.
Fourth quarter was much anticipated when Sacramento took the early advantage of five points, but Cavaliers suddenly assembled their energy and pushed Kings with full thrust and took the game away in final minute of the game when
Ramon Sessions scored the crucial two points for the Cavaliers and gifted a fine win on the road with 97-93.
Cavaliers Coach Byron Scott seemed delighted after the game when he commented on his team’s performance,
“It's amazing what competing will do, I've been very critical the last few games. I told them there are three or four things you need to do every night. We did that tonight. We competed the whole game”.
