The Spanish international has backed his Los Blancos teammates to win the Golden Ball, claiming that the two are worthy of the prize.

The veteran footballer has deemed that the captains of the Spanish and Portuguese national sides deserve the prestigious accolade because of their performances last season.
Ramos stressed that the efforts of his teammates should not be undermined and that the Ballon d’Or jury should take everything into consideration before reaching a verdict.
The World Cup winner went on to state there is no reason that Casillas should be denied the coveted accolade. He emphasized that no other goalkeeper has performed at the level of the Madrid captain in recent times.
Ramos said that the veteran shot stopper has outclassed other keepers of his time and has been remarkably successful with both, his club and country.

The defender also voiced his belief that every position on the field deserves to have a separate award. According to the Spaniard, defenders, forwards, keepers and midfielders all should be judged separately.

"I don't know what criteria are followed when voting for this award. The best thing would be to have a Golden Ball for each position on the field. How could I not hand the award to Casillas? There has only been one goalkeeper to win the award in the last
