The Spanish defender has been playing as a centre-back for Real Madrid even though he was once a spectacular full-back and while speaking about his new role, he said he always wanted to play in the centre of defence.
Sergio Ramos, who was once a right-back at the Spanish capital-based club, he is now playing as a centre-back for them.
Until last season, Real Madrid had sufficient players to play in the centre-back role.
The Portuguese star, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 Albiol, could play in the same position alongside Pepe, who is currently performing as a first-choice centre-back for Real Madrid.
However, with Carvalho getting injured frequently and Raul Albiol not being a reliable option in the centre of defence, Jose Mourinho thought of playing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Ramos-c33096 in the centre-back position.
Ramos, alongside http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-c29670, managed to form a deadly partnership in the centre of defence.
The Spaniard, who was once considered to be one of the best full-backs in the world, is now being hailed as a central defender.
Ramos and Pepe easily form the best centre-back partnership in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 as Pique and Puyol have not been very affective recently.
While speaking about his newfound role, the Spaniard said that he is happy playing as a centre-back and he finds it easy as compared to playing as a right-back.
While speaking about his new defensive responsibility, Sergio Ramos said:
“It was circumstantial but if I had the choice I’d always play at centre-back. However, we’re here to help and I’ll play anywhere.”
Since playing as a centre-back, there have been a few hitches as Mourinho decided to bench the star defender during the game against Manchester City and while speaking about his attitude, the Spaniard said:
“Nobody can blame me for my attitude but we are not machines or robots and can all have an off day.”
Madrid will be playing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 in La Liga on the upcoming weekend and the Spaniard believes it’s a one off opportunity to close the gap between the league leaders.
“It’s a one-off opportunity to close the [eight-point] gap and could be a very important game,” said Ramos.
