Quinton Jackson, also known as Rampage Jackson, has been indicating his retirement from UFC for quite some time now, and recently he confirmed it for good. Jackson, who bears a troublesome history with UFC, says he has been upset with the UFC over the opponents
they have been giving him.
Previously, Jackson had shown his displeasure towards the organisation but now he has made things clear. After he lost to Ryan Bader via decision at UFC 144, Jackson has raised his voice quite high. In his recent interview, he said, “I’ve been upset with
the UFC and the opponents they’ve been giving me. I think Joe Silva needs to be shot in the face. I’m sorry, but if you got a fighter like me who likes to go out and put on fights, why you giving me wrestlers who are gonna take me down and hump me? I’m sorry.
But I’m a little tired of the UFC and their texts. After my fight with Jon Jones, they told my manager that I was losing my appeal, that rappers and stuff don’t come out to watch me fight no more, that the fans don’t really like me no more.”
He added that he thinks it is time for him to renegotiate to get his back his respect because respect is more than money to him. He said he is ready to fight for some other show for free instead of fighting against opponents who are not worth it. He said
if fans do not believe him then he will fight elsewhere for free and prove that it is all about respect and not money. He said he is so depressed that he wishes he has to no longer fight for UFC.
For now, no matter what Jackson says, he has to fight one last time as per the contract he signed with the UFC. Jackson, who has gone through several knee surgeries recently, will recover and probably have a rematch with Shogun Rua. Jackson is obligated
to have this last fight and he cannot leave the organisation before he fulfils this ‘last fight’ clause.
