Rampage Jackson confirms postponement of Mauricio Shotgun fight – UFC News
Quinton Jackson recently tweeted about the status of his fight with Mauricio Rua, saying that he will not be able to fight him since he has to undergo a surgery for both his knees. His tweet read, “2 keep it real, the Shogun fight will have 2 wait, I just
found out that I have 2 get surgery on both knees, but I heal fast don't trip.”
This is not the first time Jackson has come up with something that sounds more like an excuse than a genuine problem. Previously, he was unable to make weight for his UFC 144 fight against Ryan Bader. However, he did go onto fight Bader and was beaten brutally.
After the bout, Jackson said that he could not perform well due to his knees, which, according to him, were in a bad condition.
UFC officials announced the bout between both the fighters earlier this week. This is not their first encounter, in fact both of them have been in the ring to face each other previously as well in 2005 in PRIDE. However, now Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson has
clearly stated that he will not be able to fight until his knees are good.
Jackson holds a portfolio of 32 wins and 10 losses in MMA along with 7 wins and 4 losses in UFC. On the other hand, Mauricio Rua stands with 20 wins, 6 losses in MMA, 4 wins, and 4 losses in UFC.
As of now, no updates have been received by UFC officials confirming the delay. Similarly, even Jackson has not stated how much time he would need to recover.
Jackson had lost his first bout against Mauricio ‘Shotgun’ Rua and since then he has been demanding a rematch. As of now, it seems like Jackson’s wish will not come true especially if UFC officials decide to place Shotgun in another match. On the other hand,
Jackson is not even sure until when he will recover. If this goes on, it is not possible for Jackson to fight at all. Perhaps, that is something he has already stated in his previous interviews that he will not be able to continue with his career the same
way.
