Rampant India record 5-0 series win over New Zealand

http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 continued its domination over the helpless New Zealand team trouncing them 5-0 in an ODI series that they dominated from the outset.
The Indians were overwhelming even in the last contest winning by 8 wickets after rolling over the tourists for a paltry 103 in tough batting conditions in Chennai.
New Zealand won the toss at the MA Chidambaram stadium and opted to bat first, their decision was surprising to say the least and with-in no time Daniel Vettori was made to rue his decision.
With-in the first six overs they had lost three wickets with a mere 28 runs on the board, the first wicket to fall was that of Martin Guptill who fell in the very first over to Praveen Kumar without scoring.
Brendon McCullum who started positively by striking 3 fours early on was sent packing by left armer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashish-Nehra-c46293 for 14 runs.
The third wicket to fall was that of Ross http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Parthiv-Patel-c2159 after contributing 9 runs.
43 runs were added for the fourth wicket partnership between Jamie How and all-rounder Scott Styris the two tried their best to lay foundations of a http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 recovery yet fell just when they had things under their control on a
demanding wicket.
How was bowled by left armer Yuvraj Singh for 23 runs, while two runs later Styris fell to off-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ravichandran-Ashwin-c84208 he scored 24 runs.
From there on the rest of the batsmen caved in against the relentless pressure offered by the Indian spinners. There eventual total was a below par 103 as they folded in the 27th over of the innings.
For the hosts Ashwin claimed three wickets, while Yuvraj and Yusuf Pathan had a brace each, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Praveen-Kumar-c82600 captured one wicket.
The chase was hardly going to be a problem for the Indians who had batted brilliantly through out the five match series. Another advantage that they had was that the wicket had settled a tad and it allowed the stroke players to play
their shots.
For India wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel continued his dream comeback to international cricket by smashing his second consecutive half-century. The diminutive left hander was unbeaten on 56 as the hosts completed the chase in the 22nd
over.
On the other hand Yuvraj Singh remained undefeated on 42, his innings included 2 sixes and 6 fours.
At the post match press conference the stand-in Indian captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gautam-Gambhir-c58623 praised his team for their outstanding form through out, Gambhir himself was at the forefront of the effort and won the man of the series award.
He said, "We were up to it, it was fantastic to see the bowlers performing even after sealing the series 4-0. Always exciting to play for the country. I thought the wicket would turn in the second innings, but it started turning in
the first over of the match itself. The fast bowlers deserve a lot of credit as well. Everyone performed, credit goes to the entire team, I always felt we had the talent to win 5-0. Really excited about my first Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757. Hopefully
I can do well." Gambhir collects the trophy, Kohli rushes to him, takes it in his hands and the entire squad sits down to pose for the cameras.
On the other hand a disappointed Daniel Vettori claimed that his side was undone by a poor wicket at Chennai, yet the Indians were the better team in the rest of the series. He said;
"Was an incredibly difficult wicket, we thought we would put up a decent score, but India played really well. When you continue to lose wickets, it takes the entire momentum away. Important series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 coming up. Franklin's
form has been pleasing."
