Question:

Ran 13 miles and now have pain in foot?

I've started a heavy marathon training schedule and did my longest distance, 13 miles, straight. This was two days ago.

During the last 3 or 4 miles of the run my right foot started to have a sharp pain and now it continues when I go run 4 miles and the weekdays.

Should I be worried about this or should it just go away? It hurts to walk to class when I have my running shoes on.. The pain is coming from the arch area.

Thanks for the help..

  1. you have to go to the doctor

  2. first and foremost, be sure to consult your family doctor as most of the problem is not knowing. once the m d has clued you in then you have something to zero in on with that all powerful mind of yours.

meanwhile you might soak it in some Epsom salts. then there is an herbal remedy at a health products outlet that costs cold hard cash but well worth it. it's called simply  M S M. it relieves inflamation and pain. i know people, me included, who have been more than pleased with its effectiveness.

    best wishes to you

  3. See a sports medicine doctor or podiatrist OR take 1 or 2 weeks off.

  4. you should go see a doctor about it if it's in the arch area.

  5. try soaking your feet in warm water then trying icing it

if it still hurts after a week or so go to the doctor

hope your foot feels better, good luck in the marathon : )

  6. 13 miles is a very good distance and the longer the distance the more prone to injury you are. My advice to you is do low impact training(bike riding, swimming, etc.) or maybe a light run preferably on a tread mill b/c its less of a strain on your body for a few days then try to resume your normal workout routine. If the problem persists go see a doctor. Also if your not used to running such a long distance you need to work up to that point don't over do it. Try improving your lets say 5-mile time and progressively work your way up!
