Ran tactician Adrian Stead happy with overall lead of team at 2012 52SuperSeries – Sailing News
Five-member TP52 fleet had some tremendous sailing conditions on the Barcelona waters as they launched their boats to commence the second day proceedings. The Swedish sailing team, Ran was able to hit the leading spot after putting up an excellent sailing
show on the racing area.
The Ran tactician, Adrian Stead, who played one of the most important roles in bringing the team to this success, was quite happy after hitting the leading podium place. He also expressed his determination to clinch the regatta title in the end.
While speaking to the local media at the end of Day 2 proceedings, Stead said that they are really happy to lead the regatta standings and taking advantage of the opportunity to get through to the top of the fleet. He believes that four boats finished within
ten seconds of each other on the line which made things interesting.
Talking about the weather conditions, Stead added that the breeze built for the second race and they had their first go with their Code 3.5 jib and that worked. That is something Quantum had last year. It works well for them as they sailed a good run when
they got offshore, finding more pressure where they could let the boat do the work.
Italy’s Audi Azzurra Sailing Team dominated the fleet in the opening day of the regatta compiling four points with the help of two bullet finishes and a second. However, on the second day of the regatta, they were able to clinch a second and a third finish.
Meanwhile, the American sailing team, Quantum Racing cruised into the top position in the first race of the second day while their finished on the second podium place in the second race. They are now on third place with 12 points
