I think it is a shallow generalisation to assume that all girls just want a 'hot guy'. As a young teenager, I actually find intellectual compatibility to be a more significant feature in a guy.

I am 30 years old. when I was younger, in my teens and early 20's, it seemed all we cared about was physical attraction!

Wait until your a bit older, because that changes. As people get older, they want different things in a partner, and looks is really not that important (for the most part). If you are a good person living an honest life you will attract women galore! Trust me!

I'd say men are more obsessed with dating attractive women. I believe women are more likely to make concessions for less attractive, but more intelligent, generous, witty, stable and/or compassionate men.

It also depends on what you are looking for. Why does a one-night stand need to be anything other than extremely attractive? Now, if you're looking for a mate, other qualities will be desirable.

Some people (male and female) just can't get by their prejudices to look past a person's appearance and wouldn't give a person who is less than perfect a second chance. A lot of times, people are so blinded by it that a horrible relationship will continue just because of that physical attraction.

I still drool over James McAvoy. Doesn't mean I want him more than my husband.

It  has a lot to do with attraction. If I were to meet someone who wasn't exactly aesthetically pleasing, but there was that fateful attraction I would never considering passing that up. A lot of people are ignorant and just want arm candy though.
