Question:

Random cravings: A normal part of growing up?

These cravings are killing me... I'm 13 and it's been going on for a little while.

The worst offender is chocolate. I cannot live without chocolate for more than a day, or else I go crazy. My mom almost always buys a bag of dark chocolate for me when she goes shopping, otherwise I will spend a lot of my time looking at the place where we usually keep it and complaining.

Then it's pasta. It's a little more predictable, usually around noon after I've eaten. I just have to have it. It's a real waste since I only eat about half, due to the fact I'm already full.

And then there's loads of random things. I had to get up in the middle of the night last night just to make pancakes. This morning I woke up craving something that I've never had before, so I had to suffer while I wondered what I was supposed to make myself. :(

Is it possible to curb the cravings? They're driving me crazy.

(P.S. I have not had my special monthly visitor yet. My mom had it when she was 14. Could it be a sign it's coming soon, or am I looking too far into it?)

  1. yeah, you'll gorw out of them soon honey.

im 15 and arwell, its just you:). x*x

  2. I am 13 and i am the same way. lately i have been needing tuna salad. (lol)

  3. Yeah it's a normal part of growing up. But it's also a sign that you're special monthly visitor is on the way. I remember I was about your age when it came, and I went to a movie with my friends and I had a random craving for sour skittles. I never really ate them before that but all of a sudden I really wanted to eat them. And the craving stuck. I always have to have sour skittles every time I go to a movie. It's very weird. Sorry to say that it's something that really doesn't go away that easily. I just let them come, but make sure that if I crave something that's what I eat, not eat whatever then that afterward, it's not the best thing to do for yourself. So, if you're craving pasta, or you know that you might crave pasta, just have pasta for lunch. Save chocolate for a dessert though, or you might have some weight gain. Exercise eat a balanced meal and you'll be fine for the health way.

If you get up in the middle of the night and make something for yourself, cut that habit. It's not healthy to do that, for your digestive system or for your sleeping habits. Just log it away to memory that you want pancakes and make them when you get up in the morning.

    Hope this helps.

Good luck with your growing up and life!

  4. I'm 17 and I crave weird things too. Mostly around my period though.

Like for instance I'll want something like cookies dipped in peanut butter or ice cream.

    I think it's normal.

  5. Yes!

    i get weird cravings

i wanted popcorn and french vanilla ice cream (hey i've had it before and its good!)

i have had a craving for meat

  6. lol yes its comletly normal it can sometimes happen before u get ur period or it could just be the fact that ur a teenage girl (and trust me we all get it)

for me its chocolate covered raisonsbut the best way to stop the cravings is to just ignor them and they will eventually go away

but dont give into them all the time (maybe every now and then but not always) because they will just get worse and ull end up gainin a ton of weight and not be very happy

its hard to ignor them but it does help

  7. I'm twelve and i have the same thing! my mom got hers at 13 and i turn thirteen in like 6 months. its driving me crazy to. its normal and you really cant do much about it.

  8. Yeah, I'm in the same situation. I don't have anything visiting every month either, but I've been craving a lot of stuff lately. Grrr.
