Randomly drug testing - to quit your job?

Question

My friend was asked to be randomly drug tested at his job. He didnt take the test and let them know he will fail. They asked - He somkes weed about once a week or so. So he will be randomly drug tested again in a few weeks. In the meantime he needs to choice to quit on his own to have a clean drug test or go through their program and miss work and pay for the program. He has already been wanting to quit his job. He now wants to quit his job and quit drugs to get a better job. If he continues working their his next test if not clean he will be fired. Which way should he go about this? I tried letting him know the job market isnt very good but his job doesnt pay well and he works hard.

i think that he should be a man, stop smoking weed (as that is a quick stop to nowhere in life) and find another job while he is still there.  a lot of jobs these days test before you even start, and is smoking up worth missing out on a good job?  plus, with government or military jobs, if you get bounced from there because of a failed drug test, you can kiss your clearance and any chance of getting another government job goodbye for the forseable future.  it's not worth it.

it's simple, quit smoking weed because last i checked it's against the law. 2nd he should stay at his current job until he finds something better.

Well, if he wants to quit his job anyway...

If he wants to quit smoking weed, he should because there's a good chance he'll have to be drug-tested to get a new job anyway.

If the job sucks, then there's no need to go through their drug program and pay for it.

Note to all the close-minded, blindly law-abiding answerers: Smoking weed is not necessarily a "quick stop to nowhere."  It all depends on how you use it.  Just because it's illegal doesn't mean it's bad.  And just because it's legal doesn't mean it's good.  When was the last time you saw a "fatal high-driving" accident?
