Ok, I am going to have Randy get his shots. I just don't want to have all the shots given at once. No, I did not let them give him his Hep shot. I am lucky and am able to stay at home with Randy. I would like to delay the shots a little. I wasn't sure which ones he really needed of them right now. I just don't want his little system to get over loaded w/ all the chemicals right now while he is so little. Can I wait until he is older like 2yr. and what kind of danger am I really putting him in by not doing them all now? I know the DTAP is needed right now. We also live in a small community on the Oregon Coast. Look I am 39 w/ my first baby and I am just don't want to take any chances. Hey I worked 36 hours for this guy had GD and he really was too big for me to have the old natural. But I did all 9lb 1oz out of a 5ft gal. But he was worth it all. Love this little man of mine. Thanks all.

  1. You can delay or refuse any vaccine you want, at any time.  If you are not comfortable with them right now, skip them until you've done some more reading and know which ones you want and when you want them.

Remember - you can always get him caught up on all the shots later if that's what you decide, but once the shots are given to him, you cannot get them back out if you change your mind, or if he reacts poorly to them.  And while really bad vaccine reactions are pretty rare, so are really bad reactions to the illnesses themselves.

I'd suggest holding off for now and doing some research, and then make the decision you feel is right for your family and your child.

    Good luck! :)

  2. Yes, you can wait until he's 2 years old.  I agree, I think all these shots overwhelm their tiny bodies.

I can't give you any advice on which shots are most important.  I'm not vaccinating my 5 month old at all at this point.  If I ever do, he will be 4 or 5 years old...

Good Luck with your research!  It's a tough decision to make!

  3. To what feels right to you, but I would suggest to get the shots.  That's just my opinion.  I love my daughter too, but I worry about all the disease & sickness in the world today.  You never know who has what or what could be on a surface that you or your child touches.  These shots are to protect our children, not hurt them.  Like I said, that's just my opinion.  Do what YOU feel is right.
