Randy Bennett handed responsibility of head Olympic swim coach for Swimming Canada
Swimming Canada on Thursday, October 27, announced Randy Bennett of Victoria, BC, as their next head Olympic swim coach. Canadian swimming association picked Bennett for preparing their swimming teams to contest at next year’s Olympic Games, in London.
While speaking about the selection of Randy Bennett, CEO and national coach for Swimming Canada, Pierre Lafontaine stated that they were indeed pleased with the announcement of Bennett as the next head Olympic swimming coach. He added that it is a positive
step towards building the team for next year’s Olympic Games, in London.
Talking about Randy’s leadership qualities, Lafontaine said, “Randy's leadership as Head Coach for the past three major international competitions has made a positive impact on the team. The team has been on an upward momentum and the 2012 Olympics will
be quite exciting for Canadian swimming.”
Bennett has been a trainer for many popular athletes in competitive swimming. For example, one of Bennett’s most popular learners, Ryan Cochrane took home two silver titles at the FINA World Aquatic Championships, last summer. He also won two Commonwealth
Games gold medals for his nation.
While speaking about his announcement as a head coach for Swimming Canada, Randy Bennett stated, “I'm truly humbled to be nominated as Head Coach for Canada's swim team that will be competing at the 2012 Games in London.”
Bennett added that they have been in a condition to build up strong swimming squads supported by intellectual trainers and members over the years. He said that it is the reason why they would definitely build a strong team for next year’s Olympics campaign.
In addition, Randy said that he has set a plan to work as a unit within the squad. Bennett asserted that he has observed a huge change in the swimming strokes of Canadian swimmers in recent times. He added that their techniques have certainly improved with
the passage of time.
The Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Trials are set to take place in Montreal, from March 27-April 1. The meet will decide where Canadian swimmers stand for their upcoming challenge at the 2012 Olympics in London.
