Randy Caballero will face Jose Luis Araiza on March 16 – Boxing News
Randy Caballero will go head to head with Mexican Jose Luis Araiza on March 16 at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California. This will be super bantamweight Randy’s first ever ShoBox bout and it definitely is going to be a tough one.
Randy Caballero will be defending his WBC Youth Intercontinental title in the 10-round bout. The event will be headlined by lightweight Omar Figueroa’s clash with Ramon Ayala. Caballero is currently standing with 13 wins, 0 losses and 7 knockouts in his
portfolio, whereas Araiza stands with 29 wins, 5 losses, 1 tie and 20 knockouts. Considering Araiza’s in ring experience and brutality of shots, it is certain that Caballero will have a tough time in his debut ShoBox bout.
To date, Randy has remained undefeated. Born on September 27, 1990 in Coachella, California, Randy is a Nicaraguan American boxer of the featherweight division.
Caballero is currently the WBC Youth Intercontinental Super Bantamweight champion. During his amateur career, he was a nine-time amateur champion including his victory at the 2008 U.S. National Amateur Champion. In addition, he won a bronze medal at the
World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey. Moreover, he also holds an amateur record of 167-10. Randy is an extremely gifted athlete. He even tried to go for the 2008 Olympic qualifying rounds but he was disqualified just because he was too young. If he was
of the right age, he would have made it in.
Caballero started his professional boxing career on March 25, 2010. His debut fight was against Gonzalo Nicolas. Randy dominated his opponent in the ring and finally won the match clean. He then went onto defeat undefeated Alexis Santiago in July 2011, to
win the WBC Youth Intercontinental Super Bantamweight title. This was Randy’s first title shot and he made it to the mark.
Randy is currently considered among the rising stars within the boxing world. If he is able to defeat Araiza, it will be a step-up for his career. Considering the fact that Araiza is an experienced fighter, Randy’s win over him can open further doors of
opportunities for the latter.
