Randy Couture thinks fight between Chael Sonnen and Dan Henderson can happen – UFC News
Former mixed martial artist Randy Couture believes a fight between two time middleweight title challenger Chael Sonnen and Dan Henderson can happen if both fighters agree. According to Henderson, both fighters have wrestled each other for the Olympic team
and they both are professionals who can give fans an epic showdown. Couture believes both fighters are wrestlers, which will make the fight exciting.
“Yeah I think they'd fight,” said Couture to Cage Junkies. “They've wrestled each other for a spot on the Olympic team, they're wrestlers at the end of the day and now they're fighters, they're professionals, this is what we do.”
Couture is comfortably retired from the sport but his legacy still lives. He is considered among the best mixed martial artists ever to enter the cage.
“I think they'd be friends before, they'd be friends after but they'd go out there and compete and they know each other pretty well and it'd be an interesting competition. I think they'd both put it on the line and fight when it came down to it,” he added.
Chael Sonnen is currently scheduled to face light heavyweight titlist Jon Jones on The Ultimate Fighter season 7. Sonnen and Henderson have been friends for long and they both share a similar fighting. In fact, there is news of Henderson assisting Sonnen
at TUF too.
With all of this in mind, Couture believes they both can go head to head in the cage and give fans an epic show. However, considering the fact that they both usually train together and have similar styles and tactics, it is hard that The American Gangster
will agree to face Henderson.
Sonnen has always shown respect towards Henderson, asserting that the latter is his mentor and a level above him. However, everyone knows that Sonnen is a hungry fighter and he can do anything to get to the top. If Henderson is the way to glory then Sonnen
might go for the fight.
For now, Sonnen is in the mood to grab the title whether it is a light heavyweight title or a middleweight title.
