Question:

Randy Couture vs Brock Lesnar, too soon?

Do you think they are just rushing this match, I mean Lesnar is strong and has a strong wrestling base and has punching power, but is very limited in his striking and submission.

Randy Couture, strong puncher, great submissions, great grappler but he is less strong and he is too old for Lesnar.

Who would win?

This fight might be announced later today if the rumors are correct

  1. Everybody has wanted to see randy v fedor for years but this would be a great match i think i would like to see it

  2. Not too sure how this fight even got started to be honost. How is Lesnar able to get a shot at the champ after going 1-1 in the UFC? Just another way of making millions for Dana White, I suppose. Anyway...

This is a bad match for Couture. He has lots to lose and nothing to gain(except money?).

Lesnar has nothing to lose and everything to gain. His career is still shaky and if he loses, he'll have to start from the bottom again. Not a big deal since he's argueably still at the bottom...

I personally don't care for Lesnar and hope Couture mops the ground with Lesnar's face.

To answer your question, yes. Too soon.

  3. Its not definite yet but for Brock Lesnar its too soon he is still fresh in the world of mma though i would like to see this match i personally wanna see Randy couture vs Fedor Emelianenko.

  4. Randy is no longer in the UFC.  Lesnar is listed to fight Kongo.

  5. This is much too soon for Lesnar. However it will sell a lot of tickets.

  6. It is too soon for Lesnar to be fighting Couture, with his lack of experience and submission skills but the guy has the strength and size to man handle Couture, and I highly doubt Randy will be able to defend Lesnars shot so h**l be on his back for most of the fight. I think it'l be awesome if Brock defeats Randy and ends all this Fedor vs Randy hype its just getting old already and so is Randy, the guy will be fifty before those to ever fight.

    The fight has been confirmed

  7. i think yes, no

yes .. because he wants to fight top, tough guys

no .. because this is only his 3rd mma fight

if this fight did happen it would be cool to see .. i don't think it big

that big of a too soon fight ( it be too soon but not really too soon )

    - if - lesnar wins it be huge for him (3rd ufc fight,a win over a mma legend )  and if couture wins ( he gives lesnar a dose of a 2nd ufc loss ..  i think that loss would be good for lesnar even better then the mir loss .. so if you really think of it it be a really good fight for lesnar

at both ends - if he wins it wiil show that he learns fast ( which he does already ) if he loses then it will tell him that you can't all ways

just stick to wrestling to win in mma

on the couture side if he wins.. none come to mind right now

    good for lesnar

    - proves he is legit at mma

    - a much bigger push for the title

    - having couture on your list of wins

    -  bigger payday

    - gives him a better name value in mma ( then just former pro wrestler)

    bad for lesnar

    - a 2nd ufc loss

    - maybe sent to doing preliminarys fights ( not that bad, i don't see that happening )

    - no more come to mind .. right now

    good for couture

    bad for couture

    - if he losses to lesnar ( just because lesnar is still new to mma , couture is a legend in mma

  8. Yes. It's ridiculous. Why would you give Lesnar a title shot? He is 1-1 in the UFC. I can think of 5 HWs that should get a title shot before Lesnar.

    Cheick Kongo

    Fabricio Werdum

    Gabriel Gonzaga

    Shane Carwin

    Antoni Hardonk

I'm not saying these are the #1,2,3,4,5 contenders, all I'm saying is that Lesnar is not up there yet. If some of the above mentioned win their next fights then they will move closer to a title shot. But BROCK LESNAR? It's obviously a money-motivated decision. I think he has a real chance in winning the title (which might be what annoys me so much about this match up) but he hasn't earned it yet.

  9. Randy Couture has great striking ability along with his Grecko-Roman wrestling and good ground defense. He has only submitted two people for a win. I think if the two were to fight now Randy would have the experience to take the match, however, I think Lesnar would control the majority of the match with his speed and power. I just think inexperience and a poor submission defense would lead to Lesner losing this one. However if you look at the HWD there aren't that many great fights to have Couture compete in. Nog and Mir are sidelined until the end of TUF. Kongo or Werdum would be the only other matchups that would be exciting to watch.
