Randy De Puniet missed the official test after the Portuguese round: MotoGP Update
Randy de Puniet was not able to ride in the post-race test held on the following day of the bwin Grande Premio de Portugal. De Puniet is suffering from knee pain during Sunday’s race at Estoril circuit.
In the first round of the 2011 MotoGP season at Qatar’s Estoril circuit the French rider was not able to finish with any points at all. With a continuing status he entered the Spanish round Gran Premio bwin de Espana, with no points finish for his team.
The both first two rounds gave him a ‘Not Classified’ status. The third round was much promising for him with 6 points finish.
The Pramac Ducati rider was able to finish in the 10th place on third round of the season with struggling knee pain. He also had a surgery in April to remove a s***w from his knee, which he got in a leg-twisting accident in last summer at Sachsenring
event.
The Pramac Ducati rider said about his reviving pain, "Before the start of the race, if I knew I'd finish 10th, I'd have celebrated the result this weekend," said de Puniet. But I don't know what happened with my knee. It hurt very badly in the race, and
I didn't have enough strength in my legs.”
His operation was held on April 8, during the long inter event gap. The gap was created by the postponement of the Japanese round after the country was hit by an earthquake and tsunami disaster. The grandstand of Motegi Twin circuit was severely damaged
and needed repairs.
Randy de Puniet added, "I had x-rays earlier this week, but I don't know how my ligaments are. I hope it's not anything serious, but tomorrow I will return home for a check-up. I'm happy for the six points earned, but without the pain in my knee, my result
would undoubtedly have been better."
The Pramac Ducati rider was one of many other riders to undergo a surgery between the long break before the Estoril event. The well known Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa was the first man to hit get under the doctor’s knife soon after the Spanish round he
was in devastation of pain and lack of strength during the first round of the season, where he felt lack of sense and strength with loss of grip but still made a third place finish.
De Puniet’s team-mate Loris Capirossi was able finish at a much better place in the second round and got some points for his team. The first round of the season was equally bad for the Capirossi with a ‘Not Classified’ status, gaining no points. The third,
Portuguese round was also blessing when he finished with four points, moving him to 12th spot.
