Randy Foye sinks 8 triples as LA Clippers rout NBA Champions Dallas Mavericks 94-75
On Monday night at American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX, the Los Angeles Clippers extended their winning streak to six - their longest in 20 years – as they thumped the Dallas Mavericks 94-75 on the road.
Clippers last won a game at the American Airlines Center on April 19th 2006. This drought of six years though finally ended for the Clippers as they managed to do a schooling of the home team while snapping a 10 game
losing streak in Maverick`s home.
Blake Griffin scored 15 points and had a game high of 16 rebounds while Randy Foye set a new franchise record for the Clippers by scoring 8 three pointers and led LA with 28 points.
Mavericks who were short handed for the game, as Jason Kidd was out with injury while Lamar Odom was suffering with illness, only managed to shoot a very low 39 % from the field. Dirk Nowitzki had 19 points and Jason Terry had
15 for the Mavs.
The biggest factor in the Clippers, who now have won the regular season series against the Mavericks, was the fast break points. LA managed to score 16 fast break points whereas the Mavericks only managed 2.
LAC looked very settled in from the start dominated the game in every aspect.
The Clips out rebounded the Mavericks, both on defence and on offence. Clippers led from the get go and never looked back in the entire game holding the Mavericks to only 35 % from the field, which meant that the home side was
held to a season low points in the first half at home, 33.
During the first half, the Mavericks did try to make a comeback but it was of no use as the Clippers were helped out by their bench scoring. Just wehn the MAvs started to eat away at the Clippers advanatge early in the second quarter,
Nick Young and Eric Bledsoe came off the bench to start an 11-2 run which helped the Clippers in building up a huge advantage over the NBA Champions and from there on it was totally a one way traffic.
The second half followed a similar pattern as the Clippers completely over shadowed the champs in all aspects of the game. Clippers led by as much as 22 points at one point during the game while the Mavericks only lead came in
the opening minute of the game when they led by 2 points. From that point onwards, Mavericks were not allowed to get back into the game.
Another highlight of the game was Blake Griffin`s spectacular dunk, which pulled off by storming into the traffic after a three point attempt went haywire. Randy Foye also had a spectacular night. Chris Paul had 8 points and 10
assists for the Clippers, while from the Mavericks side Nowitzki and Terry were the only two players in double figures.
It was an overall poor performance by the Dallas team and they need to assess their game plans if they want to win another championship or even qualify for the playoffs this season.
