Randy Moss is officially back with the Vikings
Randy Moss originally started his NFL career in Minnesota. After making brief appearances in Oakland and in New England, it appears that the seven-time Pro Bowler will likely end his playing days where
it all started. The Patriots traded Moss on Wednesday to the Vikings, for a third round pick. Moss’ contract terms with the Vikings have yet to been finalized.
Moss was in the final year of his current contract and wanted a long-term contract. New England was unwilling to grant the 33-year-old receiver his wish, opting to get a younger player in next year’s draft.
Just like that, after four weeks in the 2010 regular season, Moss’ days with quarterback Tom Brady in Foxborough were over.
It was only a matter of time before a disgruntled Moss was going to be shipped off to another team. Although he expressed that he would like to continue to play in New England under head coach Bill Belichick,
he also leaked to the media that he felt under appreciated.
"This is the last year of my contract. Nothing has been discussed. There's not been anything said. Not a letter. Nothing," Moss said after the season opener win against the Cincinnati Bengals. "I don't
want to talk about contracts. I just want to let you all know that I'm here to play my last season out. If an opportunity later on in the season presents itself for me to be a New England Patriot, I will accept that. But if it doesn't, I must move on."
A former first-round draft pick in 1998, Moss played in Minnesota until the 2004 season. Moss will have the opportunity to extract revenge on his former team when Minnesota visits New England on October
31.
