Randy Moss salutes former team-mates
After being held to just one catch for eight yards, Minnesota Vikings receiver Randy Moss spoke with the media for the first time since 13 October, and used the opportunity to heap praises on his former team.
"I'm definitely down that we lost this game. I didn't expect we'd lose this game. I don't know how many more times I'll be in New England again. But I leave coach Belichick and those guys with a salute: 'I love you guys. I miss you. I'm out.'"
Moss had received a $25,000 fine for refusing to speak to reporters, but finally broke his silence after making his return to New England on Sunday, 31 October, when the Vikings lost 28-18 to the Patriots.
"It was hard for me to come here to play, an up and down thing. I was on a roller coaster all week. To see these guys running plays and I know what they are doing, I know what type of feeling they have in the locker room.
"I miss every last helmet in that locker room."
Moss had little impact on the game, his main contribution being taking two penalties during a late drive which led to a touchdown for the Vikings.
His return to New England was also overshadowed by the Brett Favre saga which took another twist when Favre left the game with a facial laceration which required stitches.
Less than a month ago, Gillette Stadium had been Moss' home, now he was getting booed by fans of a team that he had scored 50 touchdowns for in 52 games.
Moss shared hugs with his former team-mates and former coach, Bill Belichick, before leaving the field.
"He's a Hall of Famer. He made a lot of great contributions for this team," Belichick said about having to contend with Moss from the other side. "But today he was the competition. That's the way it is in this league."
