Randy de Puniet impresses Rizla Suzuki while riding GSV-R at Valencia test – MotoGP news
Randy de Puniet tested the Suzuki GSV-R after Rizla Suzuki called him to give a feedback on their 800cc prototype.
The French rider has moved a step ahead from Pramac Racing with the end of the 2011 MotoGP season. The satellite Ducati rider was requested by the Suzuki team to test ride the GSV-R for the machine’s development.
De Puniet was pleased to avail the opportunity given by Japanese manufacturer. He performed well during the test session and took the Suzuki near to the top of the time sheet.
His best lap time was recorded as 1 minute and 33.544 seconds during his 35th lap. He completed the initial test day with 55 laps. Earlier than full test run, he had a short outing on the Suzuki machine.
Puniet said, “I had a good day and am very happy with the lap-time and position. The staffs are very professional and it has been nice to have this day and to work with them. I was very impressed with the bike and I felt comfortable immediately and enjoyed
it a lot.”
The French rider added on that he would like to rider the GSV-R for a full season span. He made a strong run and feels that he fulfilled the team’s expectations.
He says the bike has a great potential to be close to the front and also praised the professionalism in the team works.
Lastly, he paid his gratitude to the team and his manager, who made this possibility to come true, including Pramac Racing team and Rizla Suzuki team manager, Paul Denning.
Denning said, “We took this opportunity today to test with Randy because the bike has changed quite a lot over the year, and with John’s bad luck in Brno and Malaysia we didn’t get the chance to get the further feedback from a rider other than Álvaro.”
In order to further develop the bike, it was important to get a feedback from another rider. Previously, Alvaro Bautista has been able to test and develop the bike during the 2011 season.
The bike has improved a lot during the season and has delivered better results in the last part of the season.
