Randy de Puniet plans Aragon Grand Prix without significantly changed settings – MotoGP news
Randy de Puniet of Power Electronics Aspar plans to go at the Aragon circuit with same settings as he had in the Italian Grand Prix.
He told that minor changes may be made but he is satisfied with the current settings.
The Power Electronics Aspar rider is positive about the Spanish circuit although he has not been able to make impressive finishes there. He wishes to have a dry circuit despite rain forecasts because the mixture of turns and straights may make it difficult
to handle the bike on a wet Aragon.
He said, “Motorland is a fast circuit with some steep hills and I find it interesting to ride. I have always had a good feeling there although never managed great results. Hopefully this weekend the result matches the feeling!”
De Puniet further added that they want to lead the Claiming Rule Teams (CRT) therefore they will try to win the Spanish GP. He managed to finish the Italian GP at the 10th position with a gap of 1 minute and 13.605 seconds.
“We want to continue to be the reference point in CRT. I have checked the weather forecast and it looks like it is going to rain although I hope we can get a dry session. We have had a good base setting for the last few races so we won't touch much this
weekend - just a few small tweaks,” he added.
He topped the CRT at the Misano circuit after facing a lot of problems. He managed to make it to the finish line despite having a touch with Hector Barbera of Pramac Racing Team. De Puniet has a vast experience in MotoGP as he started his career in 2006.
He has been able to attain two podiums until now, one after attaining second position in 2007’s Japan Grand Prix and the other in British Grand Prix in 2009 after finishing the race at 3rd position.
His teammate Aleix Espargaro retired at the Misano Circuit 4 laps prior to the finish line, facing a technical issue.
Let’s see if De Puniet is able to lead the CRTs in the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix or not.
