Which of the following is the range of

f(x)=5cos(x + pi) + 3 ?

i understand how to find the domain,

but i do not understand how to find the range.

can someone explain to me what the range is for this particular equation, and why?

  1. its (-2,8)

for a normal cosine graph it would be (-1,1) but this has an amplitude of 5 making it (-5,5) and it is +3 which makes it (-2,8)

    make it a good day

  2. Range

    -2 < f(x) < 8

  3. min of f(x) = -5+3 = -2, when cos = -1

    max of f(x) = 5+3 = 8, when cos = 1

So, the range is [-2, 8]

  4. -1<cosA<1, for any A................ For < read < or = to.

    So -5<5cosA<5 and so -2<f(x)<8

    Hence range =[-2, 8]
