Asking for opinions form owners or knowledgeable people. What they like, are they reliable?. Thinking of getting a Range Rover DSE 4dr Auto DIESEL 2.5 auto. Its in excellent nick full leather, with low mileage at 50.000miles full S/H its on a p plate, old i know but like i said its a minter and just under 5 grand. Need something to get the dogs about in and wanted something a bit different from the old Bighorn i had. One thing i have noticed on the warranty side, it says

"Block liners are specifically excluded for Land Rover and Range Rover"?

Hmmm, are they prone to going @its up.

Cheers

  1. Great vehicle, but the 2.5 BMW diesel wasn't rated as highly as the TDi as fitted to the Discovery and Defender that age, and of course nowhere near as good as the Td5

  2. They are very unreliable.

Just last month, they were named most unreliable luxurious cars.

    A RangeRover is a LandRover.

It is called LandRover Range Rover.

  3. They're great if you can afford to run them. Although some engine models are preferable to others.  On the newer ones, the suspension system is so complicated that if it goes bust it just about writes off the vehicle.  Not a lot of space I feel for rear seat passengers.  Nice high driving position.  I have driven them around London and it is good to see over the traffic ahead, although a high centre of gravity isn't for throwing into corners.  My favourite vehicle.

  4. well i like them...even though the boss had to have 2 new gearboxed fitted to his.

  5. A weak point on Land Rovers is the engine & gearbox, but the 2.5 RR gives you the BMW drivetrain, very reliable & quite economical.

The problem here is that you're lugging round a h**l of a lot of weight all the time, the car's in permanent 4x4 so tyre wear is a bit heavy (and they're expensive - cheap tyres will disappear pretty quickly).

It's a twelve year old vehicle, and therefore pretty expensive.

    If you don't need a 4x4, look at a BMW 330d estate - huge, reliable, 45mpg.

If you need or want a 4x4, I'd go for (another) Nissan Terrano - very reliable, economical (TDi does 35mpg no bull****) & dirt cheap to buy (I'm on my third, I'll definitely have another)
