Rangefinder vs. GPS ???

Question

I'm strongly considering getting a Bushnell (Slope Edition). I used one at a Futures Tour event and loved it, but a friend suggested a high-end Skycaddie... any suggestions? Pros/cons? THANKS !!!

I have had a great experience with the skycaddie i was given about a year ago.  I would strongly suggest the skycaddie.

I suggest you look at a GPS, but one that goes on a smart phone.  GolfTraxx works on almost all GPS enabled phones (we have this on a Treo and a BlackBerry) and their blog says they are going to release a version for the iPhone (3G).  Buying a $500 GPS AND paying a $100 a year just seems like a huge waste of money.  There are others in this category, but I like GolfTraxx because I map my favorite courses on line, and my expertise on them gets in.  (I like user created content!)

Laser finders are good if you can hold them still enough (I can't) AND you have to be able to see what you are looking for.  So, a bunker behind a hill can't be measured.

Finally, if you play in tournaments, they might let you use a GPS or range finder, but they won't allow you to use the slope function.

Skycaddie is the leader.  The Bushnel is fine if all you want is yardage to the pin ( It is strictly a line of sight device,  If you can see the flag it will give you that distance only) .......There is much more info available on a Skycaddie.  Front and back distances as well as yardage to clear a bunker etc.  I

Know little except a course in FL had GPS on the golf carts one year and on my return they were gone. Asked why and was told that the battery maintenance for the electric carts became horrendous because the GPS units drew off too much juice causing many carts to stall in the field.

I would go with the Skycaddie because I believe the GPS technology is better than the laser.
