Rangers pitcher Matt Harrison looking to strike strong against the Detroit Tigers in Game 4
Texas Rangers pitcher Matt Harrison talked to the press from the Comerica Park in Detroit, on Tuesday, October 11, about changing his fortune against the Detroit Tigers in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series. The pitcher believes he can strike
back from a bad record against the Tigers and pitch well in the playoffs. The player will be given the torch to get the Rangers to a 3 – 1 standing in the competition.
Colby Lewis failed to push the Tigers down, away from home, in Game 3. Now, the Rangers are 2 – 1 in the Championship Series. Manager Ron Washington is giving Matt Harrison all the necessary help he needs to go do his job well against the opposition. The
only problem is his regular season record against Detroit. He was 1 – 4 in the year with an earning runs average of 6.89.
The worst loss he picked up was in June when he lost the game 8 – 1. However he had a kidney stone problem that took much of the effort delivered by the player on the mound. That situation has changed now and Harrison was 5 – 0 in the month of September
with an earning runs average of 2.78. Furthermore, he beat the Tampa Bay Rays in the Division Series recently.
The player reflected on his last appearance on the mound against the Rays.
"Once I got out there, after the first two batters my nerves were calm and it seemed like another game," he said of his ALDS win. "It's been a great experience so far and I'm looking forward to more [on Wednesday].
"After missing the playoffs last year, it meant a lot to me to be able to start in a playoff game and be in the game that we clinched to go on the ALCS."
The player is planning to keep things quiet in Game 4 as Scott Feldman did in Game 2.
"Hopefully I can go out there and do what Feldman did," Harrison said.
Feldman took charge in Game 2 on Monday, October 10, when he replaced Derek Holland on the mound to pitch 4.1 innings, conceding just one hit. Harrison is looking to do the same.
