Rangi Chase in English side for clash against France: Rugby League
England’s coach, Steve McNamara, has named Rangi Chase amongst the three players who will make their English Rugby League debut against France, on Friday, October 21. The fixture is a warm-up match before the start of the Gillette Four Nations Series.
The Kiwi half-back will play alongside Leeds captain, Kevin Sinfield, whereas, Jack Reed of Brisbane Broncos will appear for his very first international game besides Hull FC Kirk Yeaman. Chris Heighington of Wests Tigers will be positioned on field as a
loose-forward.
The English outfit will go head-to-head with France on Friday in Avignon, which is England’s only exhibition game before their inaugural Four Nations’ game against Wales in Leigh, on October 29.
While talking about his side’s preparation ahead of the Four Nations Campaign, McNamara said, "The players have trained really well all week and we are looking forward to taking on France as we continue our preparations ahead of the Four Nations. The make-up
of the side looks very exciting, with the right blend of youth and experience. There is a great opportunity for the players to really push on and stake a claim for a start against Wales. I have also been pleased with the attitude of the players that haven't
made the side this week. They are working hard in training and will come into contention as the Four Nations gets under way."
The coach has full confidence in his team, which in his opinion is a fitting combination of youth and experience. He also spared time to appreciate the attitude of those players who could not make it in the finalised pick for this week’s clash.
England’s full team includes the following players: Sam Tomkins of Wigan ; R Hall, K Sinfield and J Peacock of Leeds Rhinos; J Reed of Brisbane Broncos; K Yeaman and T Briscoe of Hull FC; Chase of Castleford Tigers; J Roby and J Graham of St. Helens; G Ellis
and C Heighington of Wests Tigers and B Westwood of Warrington Wolves.
The substitute pack includes G Widdop of Melbourne, A Morley of Warrington, J Jones-Buchanan of Leeds and J Wilkin of St Helens.
