Rangi Chase of Castleford Tigers terms club-leaving rumours false – Rugby League news
Rangi Chase of Castleford Tigers rejected the rumour about him leaving the club, yesterday, September 13, after getting acknowledged for his efforts in the world of rugby.
While speaking about his recognition this year, Chase said, “The medals are very nice, but I'd rather be playing semi-final football. I don't know where those rumours come from. Maybe someday it would be good to play for one of the big clubs, but right now
I'm happy where I am.”
Chase of Castleford wanted to see his team on the semi-final berth, which is nonetheless depressing for him. It was also acknowledged by him that to win recognition for one’s on-field action is always a very rewarding experience and it feels great to pick
up a medal for one’s performance.
When he was inquired about his future plans with his present club, in reference to his linking with other franchises, he poured cold water over the false word in speculation about him. He said that he is completely unaware of the source of rumour which is
spreading around at a very high rate and also assured that there is no element of truth attached to it at all.
Chase has a brilliant professional rugby league profile which is punctuated by honours that speak highly of his stature in the rugby league palette. This year “Albert Goldthorpe Medal as Super League's player of the year” will be part of his collection.
Tomkins has also been named amongst the chosen ones for the Dream Team, which is special for him because is the only player who is not part of the play-offs has made into the Dream team. For the first time since 1998, Leeds Rhinos have no participation on
the Dream team. Steve Menzies of Catalan Dragons is the oldest player to be on board, along with a total of six players from the Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves.
When Chase was called in at the Old Trafford, to be named amongst the Dream Team, Chase was happy to be counted amongst the legends of rugby.
He stated, “It's an honour to be amongst players like Steve Menzies and Sam Tomkins. It's a proud moment. It's been a good season for me, the best I've had in my career actually. I've been happy with the way I've gone. It's been a bit of a rollercoaster
for me this year, I've had a few ups and downs. The semi-final against Leeds was awesome but we didn't win.”
He praised his team’s performance in the semi-final against Leeds but it failed to convert it into victory. With that semi-final defeat, Chase’s Wembley dream was crushed and he is regretful of the incumbent loss. He regrets missing the drop goal in that
crucial match and for that, he feels embarrassed for not measuring up to his team’s expectations. He further added that this how it rolls with some games won and others lost.
