Ranmaru Harada dominates Men’s 100m freestyle heats: Day four - Tatsumi International Pool, Tokyo
Ranmaru Harada dominated the qualification rounds of Men’s 100m freestyle on fourth day of the Tatsumi International Pool in Tokyo, Japan on Thursday, April 5.
Harada overpowered his opponents with his thrilling form and qualified into the semi-final as top contender for first position. With his stupendous form, he managed to out-touch his strongest competitor over the finishing end.
Harada remained prominent for the first spot of the event from the start and sprinted his way towards the finishing end for gold medal by posting a time of 49.77 seconds.
He was chased by Kazuki Nagura, who stayed just 0.06 seconds slower from his former finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 49.83 seconds.
The second fastest swimmer was trailed by Shinri Shioura, who suffered a deficit of 0.20 seconds and clocked a time of 50.03 seconds to enter the final round.
Shioura was chased by Kenji Kobase, who stayed only 0.02 seconds slower from his former finisher and emerged on the finishing blockade with an effort of 50.05 seconds.
Kobase stayed 0.21 seconds slower from Masayuki Kishida, who posted a time of 50.26 seconds to qualify in the semi-final as fifth best finisher.
Next was the equivalent event in Women’s category, where Yayoi Matsumoto proved her eligibility for the best qualification spot of the event by outsmarting her closest rival, Haruka Ueda over the finishing end.
Matsumoto stayed slightly ahead of her following rival and tapped the wall with an effort of 55.00 seconds. She was followed by Ueda, who remained just 0.02 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and clocked an effort of 55.02 seconds.
The third finest qualification spot of the event was secured by Hanae Itou, who remained 0.46 seconds behind and hit the wall with an effort of 55.48 seconds.
Itou enjoyed an advantage of 0.14 seconds over Natsuki Hasegawa, who ended fourth with the timing of 55.62 seconds while Mao Kawakami snared fifth position with an effort of 55.89 seconds.
The arena enjoyed wonderful efforts of all participants in their respective discipline while these swimmers will face each other once again in the playoff.
