Rape -- I don't understand?

why a man would do this to a woman? I know it's not sexual gratification -- it's violence. and I don't understand the violence of it -- do these men hate women? if it's violence...why don't men rape other men, too (as much as women get raped)??

  1. men  do rape other men, in prisons, in places where there are men attracted to other men and so on.

there are ample academic studies adressing the issue.

the idea that rape is violence and nothing more is one, but hardly the only, construct you will find in that literature.

If you work hard to take the politicking out of it, you will find at least some underlying reasons are related to insufficient socialization, impulse control, and many other reasons.

The truth is, describing sexuality crosses all bounds of cognitive understanding to social constructs and relationships. We have firm grasps on none of these areas, all are under active research and debate.

Without a firm grasp on the foundations, any attempt to quantify the relationships among them is sure to be little more then speculative, supported by anecdotal evidence only, and countered by just as much anecdotal evidence.

As to how woman rape, it is the same way as a man - initiating sexual activity without legal consent.

For one example, look up in the recent news about the woman who had her pit bulls cloned in South Korea. You will find that it turns out in the 70s she was wanted for just such a case, and you can read the lurid details.

For another way women rape by initiating or even participating in s*x without legal consent, look no further then stories about female teachers having s*x with their underaged male students. It is rape under the statutory rape laws just the same as if the genders are reversed, and it clearly happens.

For a third way, research the literature for women who molest their own children...they exist too.

Good that you can't rape anyone, but that doesn't mean none of the other 3  billion females on earth can't.

  2. Um, women do rape men, and men rape other men. Women use violence to force(usually younger boys) to do what they want. They're sick and as just as bad as male rapists.

Sad thing is, the cops don't take the young boys seriously, even when they tell the police that they didn't want it. They just assume that since most men are pigs, that these boys are too.

I hate rapists, both men and women. I think they should serve life in prison, not just 5-15 years...once a rapist, always a rapist. Rape can be for sexual gratification or violence reasons.

Jane G: You're right. I've actually heard ignorant people say that men and boys don't get raped. I KNOW people who could testify against this. People need to open their eyes.

BadgerFarm: You're one of those piggish men who make it impossible for men to tell others that they were raped. What if the woman uses a gun or a knife? What about g*y men? Have you ever considered that not every man is as desperate for s*x as you seem to be? People like you make me sick because you are the reason men can't prosecute women for rape. Have you ever looked at a statistic? 1 out of 5-6 boys will be raped in their lifetime. 1 out of 3-4 girls.

Barry C: You're right. I'm glad you're not a piggish guy who claims women can't rape, like that pig BadgerFarm. Your girlfriend is right as well. Thanks to both of you for your open-mindedness.

  3. You might also ask why someone would become a serial killer.  It's because they're evil and crazy.  You can't rationalize something like that.

  4. good question.

i agree with you i think its more a s*x thing rather than a violence thing  and the violence argument only comes into it so its easier to prosecute rapists.

  5. In Prison men do rape men...  but the raping of women is part psychological disturbance from youth or upbringing, mixed with sinful nature, anger, nutritional imbalance, libido, hateful feeling of a man's mother etc...

  6. Just to clear up, women can not rape. It is legally impossible. When a woman does something like that it can only ever be called sexual assault. Physically I guess it would be possible if you held him down and sat up and down on it, but I don't think he'd mind that.

Anyway, men who rape want two things: the s*x, and the feeling of power.

  7. I feel its a degradation thing they dont like themselves so they want to make the women feel like dirt, not being funny but I am submissiv eand often enjoy the "rape" scene so good luck to them if they find me LOL, as fo rwomen on women can it be done yes the use of toys and objects can simulate it and actually many have been hurt from it.

  8. men do get raped but it is underreported.  rape is about power and control.  rape can be done by a man or a woman.

  9. The mantra that is so often repeated that rape is not about s*x and is instead about power is an over simplification that is only partially true.  That is what is leading to the confusion.

While rape is a violent act where the perpetrator often seeks to dominate and control the victim, the way in which such control is obtained is through s*x acts.  In addition, the rapist's own twisted type of sexual gratification is often obtained through forcing s*x upon the victim.  Therefore, while violence is part of rape, s*x is also a part of rape.  In addition, not all rapists are the same or have the exact same motivations, so not all rapes are the same.  Some rapists wish to humiliate their victims as much as possible, others wish to inflict physical pain and harm as much as possible, while others have as their own fantasy that they are somehow seducing the victim and do not try to cause physical harm.  Finally, date rapes are usually both about s*x and control or domination.  Date rape is very common and it is really largely about s*x and the refusal to take no for an answer.

Altogether, those that repeat the truism that rape is not about s*x and that it is rather about power do a disservice to everyone through this oversimplification because it causes confusion and just doesn't ring true.  The reason it doesn't ring true is because it is not completely true.  s*x is a part of rape, but it is the rapist's desire for sexual gratification while controlling the victim that is usually at the heart of it.
