Rapid Redux breaks from post 9 and many other troubles before the big race
Rapid Redux in his quest to surpass the modern day North American record of most wins on the trot, now even with 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta and the New Mexico bred Peppers Pride at 19, will break from not so thrilling post number 9, but the woes would’ve
been lightened out a bit for his connections and fans when the news had broken out to them that one of the best and the leading Mountaineer’s jockey, Deshawn Parker will be aboard Rapid Redux in this crucial race for glory.
Deshawn Paker is a good enough jockey to digest the fact that he will be breaking from post number 9 in the $5,000 starter allowance, and should be able to figure out a good trip, which for sure will be filled with potential stumbling blocks in his path
to success.
“I’m not crazy about post 9,” admitted trainer David Wells. “But Deshawn Parker is an excellent rider and I’m sure he’ll be able to get him out of there in a good position.”
The Kentucky bred 5-year-old son of Pleasantly Perfect, out of mare Thiscatsforcaryl by Storm Cat, Rapid Redux will face nine other horses going a mile, and the distance will be a tricky one indeed.
The track will offer a confusing, for most horses, short turn on the first turn which might decide who bolts off with the pace in the early part of the race.
Rapid Redux might have to take in account the early pace setters who would likely aim to go through and through with a wire to wire run.
It looks as if all the best starter allowance runners and sprinters have decided to run in this particular starter allowance, and from a neutral’s point of view that is exactly the right race they want to see, a horse on the verge of a massive record breaking
run.
He will have to over haul this likes of Jemaru, who has been doing really well recently over the Mountaineer track with three starter allowances under his belt.
Disco Indy, who has gone on to win 5 out of his 7 starts alone in 2011, and it gets better or maybe worse when the Chicago shipper, Copper Forest, takes the field after a spirited run in a $14,000 claiming tag.
