Rapid Redux on the verge of creating history in the North American racing scene
The 5-year-old Rapid Redux, has been creating enormous hype recently and he presented himself an opportunity to soak in the adulation of his monumental effort to stand with the greats like the 2010 Horse of the Year, Zenyatta, and the New Mexico bred Peppers Pride when Rapid Redux tied up with the two with 19 consecutive victories.
The ending will still sound the happiest even if Rapid Redux doesn’t go past them for some unfortunate reason, because it’s not every day a thoroughbred goes on to post 19 wins on the trot.
He certainly will be remembered for this prolific run which doesn’t seem to end at all.
The Kentucky bred son of Pleasantly Perfect, out of mare Thiscatsforcaryl by Storm Cat, Rapid Redux will bid for his 20th win, which will give him the opportunity to surpass all expectations and most importantly stand alone in history as the first horse in North America and all of its glorious history to go 20 unbeaten.
Who knows when this fairy tale streak will end? But one thing is for sure, Rapid Redux has elevated his connections to unknown heights. Owner Robert L. Cole Jr. and trainer David Wells wouldn’t have dreamt in their wildest of dreams that they will own and train a horse that would achieve what Rapid Redux has achieved in a span of a year or so.
Though, Zenyatta has gone on to achieve 19 out of 20 against the best in the business and in the most toughest races there are to be, but Rapid Redux is still up there, to survive and win for that longer is an excellent achievement on its own and its certainly not comparable to anything else.
His next start will be up against nine opponents in a starter allowance of $5,000 with the purse of $14,900 at a mile.
Although Rapid Redux assumingly set a modern North American record if he goes to win his 20th race. Other horses around the world have built longer streaks.
Camarero in the span of two years went on to win 56 straight in Puerto Rico from 1953 to 1955, and the it was the Hungarian bred Kincesem who went on to win 54 of races in as many starts from 1876 to 1879.
