Rapid Redux powers home for the 13th win of the year without a single loss at Thistledown in a Starter Allowance
The big fish, 5-year-old Rapid Redux does it again as he won his 13th race of the year without any loss.
The David Wells trained Rapid Redux is on a serious roll, and his amazing winning streak started last December 2011 where he won two races at the end of the year, which makes him 15 races unbeaten and still going strong.
The son of Pleasantly Perfect, out of Thiscatsforcaryl by Storm Cat, Rapid Redux has become the winningest horse in the whole of North America, with his unbelievable winning streak extending every race.
His 13th of the year came at Thistledown, which gave him the 15th over all. With his half a length victory in a $5,000 Starter Allowance, run over a distance of 1 1/16 miles.
It was his first start since 15 July, when he ran a similar race, but on a distance of 1 mile at Mountaineer Park on dirt under jockey D Parker.
The pair broke well from the gates, but Parker held back Rapid Redux and they stalked the leaders from the rear, keeping them in touch to attack whenever they identify the cue.
With 2 furlongs out, Rapid Redux under strong left hand urging from David Parker responded well, and he had eaten enough dirt at the back as he powered through his competition to quickly jump into the 3rd position.
With Hooched Express and Gresham, the two front runners not giving him enough gaps to work on, David Parker switched Rapid Redux on the outside and made room for them to take on the two front runners.
Rapid Redux edged past Hooched Express and with the same flow and momentum he had gathered coming from the rear, in the same power run he took over Gresham for the lead, as he won the race in 1 minute and 38.09 seconds.
The 23rd August race was Rapid Redux’s first career start at Thistledown, and during his 13 race winning streak, he has almost run every race with a different jockey, a new racecourse and distances ranging from five furlongs to 1 1/8 miles, which shows how
versatile Rapid Redux can be.
