Rapid Redux to extend his winning streak to 18 in another starter allowance at Charles Town
There is nothing glamorous about the 5-year-old gelding, Rapid Redux, because he will never make the Hall of Fame or win an Eclipse Award or appear on any of those races which will be highly anticipated by the fans because he will not run a race on national
television.
Trained by David Wells for owner Robert Cole Jr., Rapid Redux is destined to win without glory. He just shows up in front of empty grand stands at small tracks, against one time claimers and does his job.
Well all of it doesn’t matter when anyone can get any horse at any class level to put together a winning streak like that, and Rapid Redux is now 17 in a row.
It is disappointing the Rapid Redux will never pass even Grade 3 status, but hats off to trainer David Wells and owner Robert Cole for taking care of a nice horse to work.
Especially when it is tough for connections to keep the runner going to string together two let alone three or more together, is just an amazing achievement and now the Pleasantly Perfect colt is closing in on the great Zenyatta herself, who holds a record
of 19 in a row.
Out of Thiscatsforcaryl by Storm Cat, the 5-year-ol Rapid Redux is now at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort in West Virginia, where he will start in another allowance event to extend his winning streak and hit the golden number.
Of course, Rapid Redux is coming off a win in his last start at Charles Town where the 5-year-old rolled to an early lead in the 1 1/16 mile allowance starter on 16 September, 2011.
He was up against 3-year-old and above males, but out of Rapid Redux under jockey J Acosta never looked back after assuming the leader’s position, as he went past poles after poles, setting brisk fraction to hit the wire in 1 minute and 45.30 seconds.
Rapid Redux thrives on regular racing, and his connections have planned to keep him in the starter allowance company till the end of this year.
