Rapid Redux to go for his 19th straight win and to tie Peppers Pride and Zenyatta’s longest winning streak
Sixteen wins in as many starts this season, Rapid Redux is on a rampage and he has been steamrolling his contestants in 18 straight races and again and again has come out as a winner.
Rapid Redux did it again in his 18th race, when he won the 1 1/8 mile long starter allowance at Charles Town on 14 October, 2011, when he sent Smiling Jordan and Working Man Blue packing. They finished second and third, respectively, while Rapid Redux covered the distance in 1 minute and 51.94 seconds.
The Kentucky bred son of Pleasantly Perfect, out of Thiscatsforcaryl by Storm Cat, the 5-year-old horse Rapid Redux is his 19th win away which would tie Peppers Pride and Zenyatta’s record for the longest winning streak in the modern Thoroughbred history.
In his next race, Rapid Redux will be sent as the 3 to 5 morning line favourite, a race which has already been scratched down to five runners and it’s the 6th race another starter allowance for Rapid Redux with the purse of $ 7,500.
However, there is a twist in the story because Rapid Redux is going to run over a distance of seven furlongs, and the 5-year-old hasn’t run over a one turn race in almost 12 starts.
On top of that he will be up against Jamie Ness trained Rich Hero, who was the last out winner last time he was at the races.
The whole situation worries trainer David Wells, who trains the horse for owner Robert L. Cole Jr. Despite all the drama surrounding his 19th straight race, David Wells has decided to go to Penn National and get it over with.
Rapid Redux is an amazing runner, and an intelligent one to. He basically dictates his own practice sessions where he sometimes prefers jogging over galloping and he exercise crew accedes to his demands.
The most amazing thing about Rapid Redux is his powerful will to win, and that is what makes him so compelling and with the sort of determination combined with remarkable consistency he possesses, Rapid Redux stands out even if he will never race with the big boys.
