Rapier vs Broadsword?

Question

I`m writing a fiction story,and I need to know how well in a swordfight would a Rapier do against a Broadsword?Oh,BTW it takes place in modern day.

It depends of if the weapon is being wielded by Inigo Montoya or Mark McGwire.  I'd have to put my money on the broadsword because I think it'd take the blade right off of the rapier, but on the flip side of the coin, you'd be in a h**l of a lot more trouble if you missed with the broadsword than if you missed with the rapier.

I would say it depends on the relative skills of the swordsmen.  A good swing of a broadsword would probably snap a parrying rapier, but the rapier has the advantage of speed and agility.
