Raptors, Warriors and Cavaliers record preseason victories – NBA Round up
Cleveland Cavaliers attempted to get back into the game and somewhat restrained Montepaschi Siena’s offence in the second period, but failed to capitalize by scoring points and trailed 33-36 at halftime. The 2nd half was a completely different story, as Cleveland came out fired up and had amassed a 56-46 lead within the first seven and a half minutes of action. Siena, however, staged a comeback near the end of the period and cut the deficit to 60-63 at the close of the period.
The final quarter was packed with excitement, as Siena refused to go away and kept on the tail of Cleveland. The Cavaliers showed poise and experience to hold on to their lead till the end of the game and eventually pick up the 91-85 victory. Siena shot poorly from the field, going 34.6 percent and 36.4 percent from three point range. Cleveland, on the other hand, shot 49.3 percent from the field and closed the game well which allowed them to pick up the victory.
Golden State Warriors Vs Utah Jazz
The Golden State Warriors continued their impressive preseason form by winning their second consecutive games, defeating the Utah Jazz 83-80 in a closely fought game here at the ORACLE Arena in Oakland. The Warriors almost gave away the game in the final period as Utah outscored them 22-14 in the period alone, but held on enough to steal the victory.
David Lee was the star of the game for the Warriors, scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists for the home team. Brandon Rush had 14 points where as Klay Thompson finished with 11 points and 4 assists. Paul Millsap scored a team high 13 points and 6 rebounds for Utah, Marwin Williams also had 13, where as Mo Williams finished with 11 points and 6 assists.
Golden State started the game well and ran away with the lead early on, but Utah quickly found their rhythm and led 21-19 at the close of the first period. After a few lead exchanges early on in the second quarter, Golden State put together an impressive run that gave them a 42-33 lead at halftime. The third quarter involved much of the same, with Utah unable to stop Golden State from scoring points and failed to cut into the lead.
Golden State went into the final period with a comfortable 69-58 lead. Utah came out fired up in the fourth period though, and had the lead down to 75-70 within the first four minutes of the quarter.
Back to back layups by Enes Kanter had Utah down 80-83 with less than a minute left to play, but Kanter’s third successive layup was blocked by Festus Ezeli and Randy Foye missed a game tying three pointer as Golden State escaped with the victory.
