Rare feast for Indianapolis Colts official as Tom Telesco promoted to be VP football operations – NFL News
Indianapolis Colts have introduced a couple of in-house changes to adjust their staff to some of the positions that have become vacant as a result of the rash cleansing drive of the owner, Jim Irsay, over the past few weeks.
As of the latest, Irsay has promoted his director of player personnel, Tom Telesco, to take over the responsibilities as vice president of football operations.
Telesco has become another holdover of the legacy of Colts' former vice chairman, Bill Polian, and his son, Chris Polian, general manager of the team.
Both officials were sacked along with coach, Jim Caldwell and his staff, by the team owner.
Only a few people managed to avoid the wrath of their employer, Irsay, as he continues with his so called rebuilding of the franchise, following their miserable ending of the 2011 National Football League (NFL) regular season, with only two wins and 14 losses
on the table.
One among the few lucky officials who have survived the drive is Telesco.
He has been rewarded with a promotion to the position of vice president in the football operations department.
As a matter of fact, he is among few people at Colts who have consistently progressed in their careers.
Telesco joined Indianapolis Colts as a scout assistant in 1998 and since then, has ridden on regular success and rewarded with promotions.
The official was seen in the line of Irsay’s overhauling, which has not spared a single official in his way as a result of what he called the worst time of his life.
Indianapolis Colts managed the only two victories in the later stage of the 2011 NFL season, and at one point, were on the verge of becoming the only second side in the league to end a season without any win.
They were exposed to the worst record in the league’s history, not being able to pull off a win in their first 13 games.
It was their 14th game in which they succeeded in their efforts of managing a win.
Colts finished the season with only two wins and massive 14 losses and the poor show-off did not leave the owner a pleased person.
He immediately introduced massive changes in his side sacking all his managers, head coach and a majority of his assistants.
The side has now hired a new general manager, new head coach and continues hunting for co-ordinators for all their departments.
During the process of cleansing, Irsay retained few officials as holdovers from the era of their former managers and head coach.
Telesco is one amongst them, whose promotion was confirmed by the team management on Thursday, February 09, 2012. As the drive continues, jobs of the remaining few officials could be very much on the line.
