Rare xbox360 technical problem?

Question

i had this problem today and it had been 3 weeks since i last played on my 360 , the problem is that whenever im doing anything on the 360 like playing games watching dvds it hangs a screen is filled with glitches , all kinds of pink coloured rectangles and which hangs the console no matter how many times i reset and try the same thing keeps happening
