Rash after preschool booster?

My daughter has just had his preschool booster and after she was fine but the next day i noticed a large rash by the injection site on his upper thigh, should we go and see de GP?

  1. The GP should be called.  Any reaction from a vaccine is not normal and this is a side effect.  It could be that there is an infection at the injection site.

    In the future you can have a titer drawn first to see if she even needs it.  Many kids are fully immunized and don't need the booster.


  2. Depending on what kind of vaccine it was, some times a rash, fever, or lump at the injection site is normal and sometimes its not.  They should have given you some reading material on the vaccine that has whats normal and whats not.

    If you are still unsure, call the doctors office and talk to a nurse.  Explain the rash and what vaccine she had.  They will be able to tell you if it's normal or if your child is having a bad reaction.  It doesn't hurt to ask.
