My son is 4 weeks old and the past 2 days he has been getting a rash on his face but then it goes away. i think that its from the detergent from our clothes. We wash his in dreft and ours in tide. Should we just wash our clothes in dreft also or could his rash be from something else. Its like little red bumps all over his face that dont ave pus. And it comes and goes after a few min. Thanks!

  1. Do you wipe his face with baby wipes? When I would wipe my baby's face with a baby wipe, his face would break out for a little while, then go away. When I figured it out, I stopped using them on his face and he stopped breaking out.

  2. Really sounds like heat to me. Babies tend get the kind of rash you described when they are hot. This is possible.

  3. Most babies have something like this after they are born. Make sure anyone who holds him is not wearing cologne or perfume. When a baby becomes overheated this type of rash sometimes occurrs. If it goes away after a short while you can probably rest assured it is not an allergy. But to be safe you can take him to the doc.

  4. It sounds like he is allergic to the Tide...think about it - your baby touches your clothes as much as or more than his own. You can wash your stuff  in his detergent or try any other brand that is "free" of scents, harsh detergents, etc. Just wash anything he touches (bedding, towels, etc) in a hypoallergenic detergent. That should clear it right up. Also, make sure your dryer sheets and fabric softeners are hypoallergenic as well, or else it's not doing you any good to use the "free" detergent :-)

Also, do you breast feed? If not, he could have a milk or formula allergy. Probably not, since it likely wouldn't manifest as a rash at his young age, but just something to consider.

  5. My son gets a rash on his face if I down wipe off the baby formula after feeding.  It can also be from the detergent or heat.

  6. it sounds like my sons eczema

  7. Sounds like the usual rash most babies get as this age, all my 3 had it, on my first it went on it's own after 3 weeks, but it persisted on my other 2 and i ended up having to put oilatum cream on it for excma. Get someone to have a look at it, to make sure, but it will more than likely be this usual baby rash, x
