  1. he has the beginning of what would become an embedded collar. it is TOO tight. it has rubbed away the fur and skind and it would someday probably cut his skin.

    im glad you noticed now.

ask your vet. he may be able to get you some topical medication for that.

  2. Another possibility is that your dog is allergic to the material in the collar. My Beagle had the same problem and it was due to the material in the collar. When I changed to a different material in his new collar the problem went away and hasn't returned. Just an idea.

  3. Yea take him to the vet because if you would have kept it on any longer his collar would have been growing into his skin thats y there was no hair there it was starting to in bed but just take him to the vet and get some anti biotics and then just get a new collar and take it off after u walk him or w/e so his neck can breathe

    Good Luck and God Bless

  4. What you've described sounds like he has seborrhea under where his collar was.  Go to your vet's and get a bottle of Pyoben shampoo.  Bathe him entirely with his normal shampoo, rinse, and then use the Pyoben only around the area with no hair (let it soak for 10 minutes, and rinse).  If this doesn't fix the problem, then you should probably have the vet see it.  But, I think you should see (and smell) a marked improvement.  Wash the area every 2-3 days until it's gone (you don't need the whole bath after the first time).  You can also soak the collar in the shampoo, close it, and toss it in the washer to get rid of any dead skin cells, and the smell.

ADD:  A tight collar doesn't produce a nasty smell.  Seborrhea has a distinct musty, yucky odor.  You can take the collar to the vet's, and have them confirm the smell.

  5. Possibly a yeast infection or some sort of infection. Take the dog to the vet.

  6. IT SOUND LIKE THE COLLAR IS TO TIGHT ON HIM AND NOW ITS IVECTED......... GET SOME ANTIBIOTICS TO PUT ON THE SORE ALSO IF ITS A LEATHER COLLAR HE MIGHT BE ALERGIC TO IT MY DOGS CANT WEAR LEATHER IT BREAKS THEM OUT BUT IF HES HAD IT ON SINCE A PUPPY HES PROBALLY OUT GROWN IT AND NEEDS A NEW ONE TAKE HIM TO THE VET TO GET SOME MEDS TO PUT ON IT BEFORE IT GETS WORSE

  7. could be irritated by the collar that makes him itch, a dog i petsit for has done this, and could just need a different collar that dont bother him too much.

  8. The only thing I can think of is.. has your dog gained weight? It sounds like it is too tight if it's moist and scraping off his fur..??

Also... have you switched collars at all??

  9. the collar might have caused the rash.bring the collar and the dog to the vet.show them the collar and they'll find out why it does this.sorry dog

  10. those things cant be on forever. Thats like never taking off your socks, in a matter of time your feet will rash, smell, get moist etcetera. Take the poor thing to a vet and make sure you change the collar every now and then. Also make sure its not too tight.

  11. Well if you had it's collar on for years dang right it will have on take it to the vet.
