Rashad Evans: It is time for me to cement my legacy and it will be against Jon Jones – UFC News
Rashad Evans, who is currently considered among the best UFC fighters of all times, wants to cement his legacy as a fighter, and according to him, it will start with Jon Jones defeat at UFC 145 on April 21, 2012, at the Philips Arena in Atlanta Georgia.
In his recent media interaction, Evans clarified his stance regarding Jon Jones. He said, “But this fight is not about proving a lot of people wrong about Jon Jones; it's about proving me right. I'm one of the very best light heavyweights out there and it's
time for me to cement my legacy. I've beat top guys for years and years - before Jon was even in the UFC - and in a sport where everyone loses big fights here and there, I've had one bad night in seven years. This is the perfect opportunity and perfect chance
for me to show that I'm as good as my record says I am. The illusion of or the mythical Jon Jones that the other guys fought, it doesn't exist for me.”
He added that he knows how weak mentally Jones is and he has a lot of doubts about himself. He added that he is going to be the first one to stop Jones. Lastly, he said that he saw an interview in which Jones said that he would not be giving to him (Evans).
He then said that he does not want Jones to give it to him but he will grab it from him.
The war of words between Jones and Evans has already reached the peak. Evans has been saying a lot of stuff regarding Jon Jones past. He recently came up saying that Jones is a mentally weak person and that Jones suffers from identity crisis. However, Jones
has not been that active to contribute to this quarrel. He instead wants to settle it in the ring, which is probably the best way of how a fighter should settle things. Probably, Jones does not want to get involved in trash talking and wants to focus on his
training.
