Rashad Evans: Michael Bisping stands no chance against Chael Sonnen –
UFC news
Rashad Evans, former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, has asserted that even though Michael Bisping stands among the best UFC fighters, Chael Sonnen can give him an unexpectedly tough competition in the bout scheduled for UFC on Fox 2.
Rashad Evans is currently booked to fight Phil Davis on Saturday in the main event. If Rashad is able to emerge victorious, he will get the deserving title shot for the light-heavyweight title. Rashad, the 205lb former champion, has previously shared the
ring with Bisping, when he grabbed the victory through a decision.
Unfortunately, to date, Bisping and his supporters have not accepted the defeat. Like most boxing matches, even the one between Evans and Bisping ended with a controversial decision due to which many were left to believe that the Brit had an edge over Evans.
The winner of the bout between Sonnen and Bisping will move on to fight Anderson Silva for the title. Most analysts and pundits have observed that Bisping is the better man, however Rashad refutes this by saying Sonnen can get rough which will be a negative
point for Bisping.
Rashad asserted, “Bisping is a scrapper man and that's one thing people don't really realize. You can't watch a Bisping tape and get a true appreciation for just how good he really is until you're in there. And by then, it's usually too late. He's very tricky
and he's a lot better than what he looks. You underestimate him because he doesn't look strong but he's surprisingly pretty strong.”
On one hand, Evans highly appreciates his former opponent, but warns him to be wary of Sonnen’s fury by saying, “For me I think the pressure Chael Sonenn brings is hard to match with his offense, takedowns, ground and pound, hand in the face and dropping
elbows and shots.”
He further stated that in Sonnen sticks to his attacking strategy, he will be able to hammer Bisping easily, since Bisping is a fighter who usually looks for weak spots and technically grapples his opponent.
Between both the fighters, Sonnen is the tougher looking one who is known for his hard-hitting punches, whereas Bisping is more of a technical fighter who knows how to tie in his opponent. The match is scheduled to take place on UFC on Fox 2 and will decide
which fighter deserves the title shot.
