Rashad Evans: Phil Davis can’t even bust a grape, UFC on Fox 2 all heated up – UFC news
Phil Davis and Rashad Evans jolted each other in the post bout press conference, held on Thursday for the Saturday January 28, 2012’s intensive pay-per-view, UFC on Fox 2.
The two light middleweights will face each other in the octagonal ring making it the main event of the special UFC edition.
Rashad and Phil had been bombarding each other for the last one or two weeks with jests that were meant to degrade and tell the world each other’s reality. Both lightweights are amongst the apex men in the division who have made their mark and have gained
the notice and attention of not only the greats of the game, but also of the critics.
As per analysts’ predictions, at the moment, Rashad is being considered the favourite who will supposedly knock out the young 27-year-old Davis in the upcoming encounter. Evans, also known as Suga, is also well aware of this fact. It is this reason why in
the previous days he had been calling his opponent a boy who does not throw a punch but an open hand and who hasn’t faced real competition until now.
Phil is really a newbie in UFC when it comes to stats and brawling records. He has been in just nine bouts and has won all of them commandingly. His win ratio is 100% and he has easily defeated most of his opponents but this cannot overshadow the 18 bout
and 16 win resume of Rashad Evans.
In addition to his extensive experience, Suga has also felt the light heavyweight champion belt round his waist, so he knows how much important it is for him to win this fight and take on Jon Jones, the current light heavyweight champion, to grasp back what
rightfully belongs to him. He has thrown several fights and knockouts of the night which proves how much of a beast the 32-year-old American is.
The statement of Evans being the winner is further corroborated by the fact that Suga is a black belt in not only Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu but also in Gaidojutsu. On the other hand Phil, the Mr. Wonderful, is just a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Phil tried to overshadow his heavy-duty opponent but was vehemently countered by Evans. Phil, while replying to a reporter’s query said, "Cocaine's a h**l of a drug, it's crazy what the kids do nowadays, I encourage imagination, but no, he can't beat me
at wrestling. He couldn't beat me at thumb-wrestling."
This was really a disrespectful comment which was responded by Evans promptly. Rashad blasted, "You've trash technique. You couldn't win anything at an international level. I've watched you at college level and your technique's trash." Suga continued and
said, "Phil couldn't bust a grape. He hits with an open hand."
The two men will definitely try to keep up their promises or claims, especially Suga who might be in pressure since he has already denoted the brawl as a bout between a man and a boy. The Octagonal ring will be raised in United Center Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
