Rashad Evans turns sweet towards foe Jon Jones – UFC News
The tale of friendship and rivalry between light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Rashad Evans is widely known. The two fighters trained together, stayed together and shared a life together at one point, and then they turned foes. However, now Evans is
looking forward to end the rivalry with his sweet words towards the highly criticised champion.
“Being who he truly is, is not a guy who is disliked. He can actually be a good person, but I think him slipping back and forth between the person he thinks people want him to be and who he truly is has really messed him up,” said Evans in an interview with
The MMA Hour.
Rashad Evans was pretty bitter previously before UFC 145 against Jones. He took on the champion believing he will end him but Jones walked out victorious. It was a moment of humiliation for Evans, as he had talked enough against Jones. Back then, Evans called
Jones a fake person and promised he would end his career. Unfortunately, it was Evans who lost his credibility when Jones defeated him.
“Of course, if he ever needed me for anything, I'll be there to talk to him and to help him out if he needs it. And I don't know everything there is to know about life, either, so if there's something i have a problem with, I'm sure I can learn from him,
too,” Evans added.
Jones is probably the most criticised fighter in the history of UFC, especially after the fall of UFC 151. Jones was scheduled to face Dan Henderson at UFC 151, but due to an injury sustained by the latter, the match was cancelled.
President of UFC Dana White immediately tried replacing Henderson with Chael Sonnen but Jones refused to fight any other opponent than Henderson. According to Jones, he was not comfortable in changing opponents just eight days before the showdown.
Jones’ rejection to fight Sonnen caused the card to cancel the card. He was highly criticised later on for his arrogant behaviour, even by Dana White who usually had Jones’ back in most cases.
