Rasheda Ali: Manny Pacquiao reminds me of my dad – Boxing news
Rasheda Ali, daughter of the legendary Muhammad Ali, claims Manny Pacquiao closely resembles her father in terms of his fighting skills and achievements.
Rasheda made her claims at a star-studded Saturday gala, which was fundraising event held to honour Ali’s achievements.
According to Rasheda, “Manny reminds me of my dad. He is a very generous person, a very loving person. He takes the celebrity status and gives it back to the community. That's what my dad has done. You know, he is one of the few boxers that give back to
the community.”
Manny Pacquiao was at the $1,500-a-plate gala event along with his wife. Samuel L. Jackson was spotted seated next to them. Manny Pacquiao seemed pretty excited about being there. When asked about Ali, Manny said, “He is the greatest boxer of all time.”
Muhammad Ali was once the most known face on this planet and he was extremely popular in the Philippines especially after ‘Thrilla in Manila’, his fight against Joe Frazier, at the Araneta Coliseum in 1975. Not only is the Philippines in love with Ali, but
even Ali is fond of the place.
According to Rasheda, her father has always been in love with the island. She remarked, “The Filipino community has been so wonderful for my dad when he came there to fight. They (Filipinos) were so generous and gracious. My dad loves that.”
At the event on Saturday, around 2,000 guests attended the show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ali celebrated his 70th birthday last month and so with this event. US President Barack Obama joined the ceremony too with a video message for Ali. Anthony Hopkins, David
Copperfield and Snoop Dogg were among the guests too who made the event such a grand one.
With this effort from his daughter, Ali’s legacy has been revived once again for today’s generation as well. He is probably the most honoured man in the world with no one pulling his leg. Throughout the global boxing community, Ali is one name that everyone
bows down to with respect. It was his efforts that made boxing such a famous sport internationally.
