Rasheed expected to prevail in Hippo Waste Stakes
Rasheed is rated favourite to win the Hippo Waste Stakes (Handicap) (Div I) at Goodwood in England on Thursday, May 24, 2012. A cash prize of £4,852 will be awarded to the winner of the class-4 event.
The going will be good to firm in the 2 mile event, which is scheduled to start at 16:20 GMT. A total of nine runners have lined up for action and their names are as follows: Al Khawaneej, Golan Way, Rasheed, Saborido, May Contain Nuts, Natural High, Pascha
Bere, Twice Bitten and Shesha Bear.
Out of the above mentioned runners, Twice Bitten is doubtful for the race. No final decision regarding his participation has been taken yet, but his trainer will make the final call before the start of action.
Looking at the overall statistics of all participants, it seems that Rasheed will walk away with a comfortable victory in the race. His recent form has also been good, thus it will be a good choice for the bettors to risk money on him.
The four-year-old gelding has taken part in a dozen events until now and his performances have been good in them. He has earned four victories whereas secured the third spot once as well.
Out of his previous five outings, the John Gosden’s trainee has won thrice, which is a very positive sign. However, he was unable to deliver a solid run in his most recent run, as he finished fifth in it.
Despite not being the favourite to win, Rasheed was expected to challenge his rivals last time around. However, he did not seem to have the momentum to finish in the top three. He will need to make a strong comeback in order to prevail at Goodwood today.
The race favourite runner will be partnered by seasoned jockey, William Buick, who has got an impressive record in the sport.
Other than Rasheed, Golan Way might also manage to make a solid impression in the race. He has got plenty of experience, taking part in 34 events. However, his strike rate is not on the positive side, as he has just managed to win on nine occasions.
In his most recent run, the eight-year-old gelding finished third, which shows that he can challenge his opponents for victory at Goodwood.
